Introducing the pre-war A-2 Jacket by Aero Leather Clothing Co., Inc., Beacon, New York—an important contract representing the final A-2 produced by the Beacon outfit prior to America’s entry into WWII, and the last to feature Aero’s distinguished collar stand.
This storied model is further defined by its period-correct large ring studs and Aero’s iconic square-corner patch pockets, hallmarks of early A-2 design. Notably, this very contract is associated with General Claire Lee Chennault, commander of the First American Volunteer Group—the legendary “Flying Tigers”—imbuing the jacket with remarkable historical significance.
Cut with a more generous silhouette, the jacket offers a comfortable, effortless fit while preserving its authentic military character. Originals were crafted in russet—and possibly seal—horsehide and cowhide, complemented by a distinctive dull orange lining and mid-brown knits.
Our reproduction stands without equal, meticulously executed to capture every nuance of the original. The piece displayed is rendered in Liberty Russet Horsehide, featuring a dull orange lining, medium-brown stitching, and matching brown knits—a timeless collector’s garment, embodying heritage, precision, and enduring elegance.
