Durable One Star
Durable One Star
£2,100.00
For the first time in the modern history of jacket making, following decades of interpretations that fell short of the original standard, we are proud to present an exacting, ultra-luxury reproduction of the legendary Durable One Star jacket. Rendered in our exclusive black teacore horsehide, this piece faithfully embodies the original character and proportions as worn by Marlon Brando’s Johnny Strabler in the iconic 1953 film “The Wild One.” Every element has been approached with rigorous attention to authenticity, craftsmanship, and material excellence.
The jacket features:
- Asymmetrical center front pattern with heavy duty gauge 10 Talon zipper.
- Snap down lapels with original 1950s NOS “DOT” stainless steel snaps.
- Shoulder epaulets with the signature Durable one star insignia.
- Bi-swing back panels and two piece underarm gussets.
- Sleeves with original 1950s NOS Talon Zipper adjustable cuffs (as long as supplies last).
- Attached half belt with original 1950s NOS North & Judd “Anchor” buckle.
- Three outside O-ring chain (with correct number of links) zippered pockets.
- Small sized snap down flap pocket for your “windproof” lighter, lined with parachute cloth.
- Original custom made “quadruple diamond” design quilted lining, and hem with black corduroy.
- Sleeves lined with black color heavy cotton drill.
This reproduction is developed from authentic patterns taken from an original Durable jacket that was briefly in our possession, allowing for an unprecedented level of fidelity in structure and proportion. The silhouette is deliberately cut in a short, sharply “V” shaped form with broad shoulders and pronounced tapering toward the waist, delivering the exacting athletic fit of the original design. It is intended for a trim, athletic physique and maintains the uncompromising profile seen in archival imagery of Brando.
Distinguished by the integration of true 1950s New Old Stock components and meticulous construction techniques, this jacket represents a rare convergence of historical accuracy and refined craftsmanship. The original Durable pattern itself is remarkably engineered, requiring no modern alteration to achieve its intended fit and balance—an attribute preserved here in full.
Please note that the sleeve length reflects the original specification, finishing at the wrist bone rather than extending to the thumb joint, in accordance with period-correct proportions.
Strictly produced in a limited edition, this jacket stands as a definitive and faithful homage to one of the most influential leather garments in cinematic and cultural history, executed with an uncompromising commitment to authenticity, precision, and enduring quality.
