How to measure

How to measure yourself for jacket ordering.

Please let us have the following 5 measurements before you order.

1. Your Height
2. Your Weight
3. Your Chest circumference (wearing a t-shirt only).

Use a measuring tape and measure around your chest (at nipples level).

4. Your Waist circumference (at belly button level).

5. Your Lower Waist circumference (at belt level).

With the arms relaxed and down at the side, measure around the shoulders just above the biceps. (Don’t take this measurement yourself, ask somebody else to help you so that you have both your arms down at the sides during measurement).

Rough Wear 23380

£1,055.00

A defining expression of wartime craftsmanship, the A-2 Contract 23380 by Rough Wear Clothing Co. of Middletown, Pennsylvania, was produced in the early years of WWII, embodying the enduring design language that made Rough Wear one of the most respected names of the era.

Faithful to the house’s established aesthetic, the 23380 carries all the signature elements that remained remarkably consistent across their contracts: a bold, generously proportioned collar, wide straight epaulets, and elegantly curved pocket flaps with a softly rounded point. Subtle construction details, including precise zip reinforcement stitching, further underscore its utilitarian refinement.

Known among collectors as the “twin label” contract, the 23380 is uniquely distinguished as the only Rough Wear A-2 to feature the coveted “Property” label—an exceptional detail that elevates its historical significance. Surviving originals appear exclusively in rich russet leather, enhancing its visual warmth and authenticity. Notably, Douglas MacArthur, the five-star general who formally accepted Japan’s surrender aboard the USS Missouri, was known to wear a Rough Wear 23380 A-2, further cementing its legendary status.

Our reproduction is executed with uncompromising precision, capturing every detail with absolute fidelity to the original. The piece displayed is rendered in Liberty Horsehide Russet, complemented by a muted orange lining and olive-drab stitching—an enduring collector’s garment, where history, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance converge.
