TALON ZIPPER REPAIRS – SLIDER REPLACEMENT
Most zipper trouble may be traced to a bent slider in which the jaws are either spread too far apart or too close together, instead of being parallel. The following is an explanation of the proper removal of a slider from the chain and its replacement following repair.
To remove the damaged slider on a SEPARATE-TYPE ZIPPER, carefully remove the top stop, using a wire cutter, on the RETAINER SIDE only.
Then slip the slider off the top of the chain and completely remove it from the cord and tape. Repair or replace the slider.
To replace the slider on a SEPARATE-TYPE ZIPPER, insert the slider into though cord of the RETAINER SIDE only and allow the slider to slip down the chain.
Place the new top stop where the old one was and using long nose pliers gently press the top stop’s jaws until they are firmly installed on the cord.
