Use a measuring tape and measure around your chest (at nipples level).

4. Your Waist circumference (at belly button level).

With the arms relaxed and down at the side, measure around the shoulders just above the biceps. (Don’t take this measurement yourself, ask somebody else to help you so that you have both your arms down at the sides during measurement).

Werber Sporstwear Co. of Newburgh NY, (originally Werber Leather Coat Co. of Beacon NY) was one of the earliest A-2 jacket contractors and delivered A-2 jackets to the Armed Forces under five contracts in total. All of them were made pre-war. We reproduced the jacket from order number 42-1402-P which was their last contract won in August 1941.

The Werber pattern is a slim fit with very high armholes. The body is slender and the shoulders narrower than most A-2 jacket by other original makers.

The most distinguishing characteristics of this design are of course the collar stand, its narrow epaulets and the wider top stitching noticeable in the collar and pocket flaps. The pocket flap style along with the square reinforcement stitching of the pockets are features found also in A-2 jackets made by Perry Sportswear.

All original examples of this contract that we have seen were made in seal brown color, including the one we used to make our patterns.

Jacket displayed in Liberty Horsehide Seal, dull orange lining and medium brown thread.
