How to measure

How to measure yourself for jacket ordering.

Please let us have the following 5 measurements before you order.

1. Your Height
2. Your Weight
3. Your Chest circumference (wearing a t-shirt only).

Use a measuring tape and measure around your chest (at nipples level).

4. Your Waist circumference (at belly button level).

5. Your Lower Waist circumference (at belt level).

With the arms relaxed and down at the side, measure around the shoulders just above the biceps. (Don’t take this measurement yourself, ask somebody else to help you so that you have both your arms down at the sides during measurement).

Star 28557

Star Sportswear Contract No. W535 AC-28557

Star 28557

£1,055.00

This jacket represents the sole A-2 contract awarded to Star Sportswear Mfg. Co. of Lynn, Massachusetts, a long-time supplier of leather garments to the Army Air Forces and U.S. Navy. Interestingly, A-2 jackets bearing labels marked Star Sportswear Order No. 42-18245 and Star Sportswear Contract No. W535 AC-28557 are now understood to come from the same contract, though the reason two different label variants were used remains unknown. The Star A-2 pattern is trim through the waist yet comfortable, thanks to a wider upper back and inset (rotated) sleeves that offer excellent mobility. Its distinctive “crescent-moon” collar sits lower in front, so it stays clear of the wearer’s chin and Star uniquely used brass-eyelet throat hooks not found on other A-2 makers. Original Star jackets were made in seal brown or dark russet horsehide, stitched in tan or muted purple-brown thread, with brown linings, mid- to dark-brown knits, ball-stud snaps, and M-42 nickel Talon or Crown zippers. Pockets featured Star’s characteristic triangle stitch and separate snap tabs. This reproduction, made in Liberty Seal Horsehide with dark tan lining and Perry-purple thread, faithfully captures these details while offering a streamlined, modern-feeling fit.
