How to measure
How to measure yourself for jacket ordering.
Please let us have the following 5 measurements before you order.
1. Your Height
2. Your Weight
3. Your Chest circumference (wearing a t-shirt only).
Use a measuring tape and measure around your chest (at nipples level).

4. Your Waist circumference (at belly button level).

5. Your Lower Waist circumference (at belt level).

With the arms relaxed and down at the side, measure around the shoulders just above the biceps. (Don’t take this measurement yourself, ask somebody else to help you so that you have both your arms down at the sides during measurement).

Rough Wear 1401 P
Rough Wear Clothing Co. - Contract/Order No: 42-1401 P
Rough Wear 1401 P
£1,055.00
Rough Wear Clothing Co. of Middletown, Pennsylvania, was a major Army contractor and produced thousands of A-2 jackets and other garments during WWII. The 42-1401 P contract was their third A-2 contract, and this jacket is a faithful reproduction of that model. Jackets from this contract were typically made from russet horsehide, although a few rare seal-brown examples are said to exist.
Its overall fit follows the familiar Rough Wear silhouette, and, like all other Rough Wear A-2 jackets, it includes a collar stand.
The originals used Crown zippers, and we can offer authentic vintage Crown zippers—subject to availability.
Key details of this contract include:
- russet horsehide
- classic trim military fit
- collar stand
- dull orange lining
- dark or medium-brown cotton thread
- ball-stud snaps
- mid-brown wool knits
- Crown zippers typically found on the originals
This jacket has a smart pattern and a lean, athletic, and no non-sense appearance. One of the most notable figures to wear a jacket from this contract was James “Jimmy” Stewart, the actor and military aviator who fought in WWII commanding the 703d Bombardment Squadron and later rose to the rank of brigadier general.
We are proud to present what we believe to be the most exacting reproduction of the Rough Wear 42-1401 P out there.
The jacket on display made with Liberty Horsehide Russet, dull orange lining, medium brown thread and brown knits.
