Perry 23377
Perry Sportswear Inc. - Contract No. W535 AC-23377
Perry 23377
£1,055.00
Introducing the A-2 Jacket, December 1941 Contract by Perry Sportswear Inc.—a rare and highly collectible early-war issue, produced under the company’s first and most limited A-2 contract of 20,000 pieces.
Crafted originally in rich russet goatskin and fitted with period Crown or Conmar zippers, this model embodies the refined yet purposeful elegance of early A-2 design. The silhouette is trim and sharply tailored, with a slightly extended body and broader shoulders, offering a distinctive balance of structure and comfort.
What truly sets the Perry apart is its unmistakable detailing. The precise ¼-inch topstitching along the collar and pocket flaps creates a bold, graphic definition, while the square reinforcement stitching of the pockets underscores its utilitarian origins. A subtle irregularity often found in originals—the off-center rear collar seam, attributed to wartime urgency—has been thoughtfully refined in our interpretation, preserving authenticity while elevating execution.
Rendered in a palette true to the original contract—dull orange lining, muted purple-brown thread, and earth-brown knits—every element has been carefully considered. The absence of triangular reinforcement at the base of the zipper, combined with the collar stand and period-correct hardware, further defines this exceptional piece.
The details of this contract are as follows:
- Russet goatskin
- Collar with collar stand
- 1/4 inch gap top stitching around pocket flaps and collar
- Pockets with square re-enforcing stitching
- Dull orange lining and dull purple brown thread color
- Earth Brown knits
- Conmar and Crown zippers
- Without triangular stitch reinforcement at the base of the zipper
Our reproduction is offered in both premium goatskin and horsehide, each meticulously crafted to capture the spirit and detail of the original. The result is a timeless collector’s garment—an elegant fusion of history, precision, and enduring craftsmanship, destined to be worn and appreciated for a lifetime.
