How to measure yourself for jacket ordering.

Please let us have the following 5 measurements before you order.

1. Your Height
2. Your Weight
3. Your Chest circumference (wearing a t-shirt only).

Use a measuring tape and measure around your chest (at nipples level).

4. Your Waist circumference (at belly button level).

5. Your Lower Waist circumference (at belt level).

6. Your Shoulder circumference

With the arms relaxed and down at the side, measure around the shoulders just above the biceps. (Don’t take this measurement yourself, ask somebody else to help you so that you have both your arms down at the sides during measurement).

Perry Sportswear Inc. of Newburgh NY was a leather jacket manufacturer who supplied A-2 jackets to the US Army under 3 contracts. This is their last contact from 1943 under which they delivered 25,000 jackets with an unsigned label.

The Perry A-2 jacket design is athletic, comfortable and compliments the wearer. It has wide shoulders and it is one of the longest jackets from all the contracts we offer.

This jacket has a collar stand like every other made by Perry. Some of its other characteristics are the 1/4 inch from the edge top stitching style found in the pocket flaps and collar and of course the absence of triangular stitch reinforcement at the base of the zipper. Another unique feature in Perry jackets is that both leather pieces that comprise the epaulet are folded under the sleeve seam. It is found that the same technique is used also in the construction of the pocket flaps.

The jackets of this contract were made out of seal horsehide and most examples that we have seen use brass Conmar zippers.

The details of this contract are as follows:

  • Seal horsehide
  • Collar with collar stand
  • 1/4 inch gap top stitching around pocket flaps and collar
  • Pockets with square re-enforcing stitching
  • Dull orange lining and dull purple brown thread color
  • Brown knits
  • Conmar zippers
  • Without triangular stitch reinforcement at the base of the zipper

There are examples of this contract found with rounded collars while others have pointy collars. We offer both versions.
