“Grizzly” Fur Blouse of Electrified Lamb

“Grizzly” Fur Blouse of Electrified Lamb

£1,500.00

Jackets with fur known as “Grizzly [bear] jackets” among collectors were the ultimate leather jacket to own between the 1930s and 40s. Their real designation however was Fur Blouses and they were offered by many outerwear companies for wearers who wanted fine styling and rich appearance plus extra warmth and long wear. They were also known as Laskin Lamb* jackets. The most notable makers were Top Notch by Ralphs-Pugh Co. Inc., King-o FUR, Wind Ward, Albert Richard, Laskinlamb (who was a major producer of the fur used by almost everybody), and of course Block-Bilt of California who was the maker of the jacket we reproduced.

Our jacket’s amazing features include:

  • Luxurious, Thick, Vintage Electrified Lamb** Fur Front Panels, Back and Collar
  • First Quality Full Grain Front Quarter Liberty Horsehide Leather Sleeves
  • Smooth Slide Fastener Front
  • All-Wool Check Lining
  • Sleeves Lined in Pure Cotton
  • Cashmere Wool Lined Cuffs with NOS US Navy Wool Knit Wristers and Vegetable Ivory Fish-Eye Buttons
  • Two Warm Muff Pockets with Leather Welts
  • Adjustable Half Belt in Front with Premium Quality Japanese Made Cast Buckle in Matte Silver Plating (Solid Brass Base)
  • Tab and Vegetable Ivory Fish-Eye Button at Collar
  • Underarm Ventilating Eyelets (3 each sleeve)
  • Original Design Block-Bilt Woven Label

* Laskin Lamb or Laskin Mouton (lass kin moo tonh): Trade name for processed lambskin, with lustrous pile; usually golden brown. Hardy fur; looks and wears like sealskin.

**  Τhe garments constructed of pelts from young sheep, were called “electrified lamb skin”. The pelts’ smooth, fur-like appearance was achieved by submerging the curly wool in acid, oiling it, and then alternately combing and ironing the wool fiber until it had been straightened.

The jacket shown features Liberty Horsehide Seal, Wool tartan - Douglas Green (Mod) lining, dark brown thread and Hookless zipper.
