The Bronco Manufacturing Corp. W535-AC-29191 A-2 is one of the most most sought-after original USAAF Type A-2 flight jacket contracts of the Second World War. Produced in 1942 by Bronco Manufacturing Corporation of New York, it represents the classic early-war A-2 design, combining a refined athletic silhouette with the durability required for combat aircrew service. Approximately 59,000 jackets were produced under this contract, many seeing service with USAAF personnel during WWII.
Our faithful reproduction of the Bronco 29191 A-2 is based on surviving original examples, recreating the distinctive features that have made this contract highly desirable among collectors. The Bronco pattern is recognized for its strong square shoulders, balanced proportions, trim torso and elegant wartime profile, offering a cleaner and more athletic appearance than many other A-2 contracts while maintaining excellent comfort and mobility.
The jacket is crafted from premium full-grain leather selected to reproduce the character of original wartime hides, with historically correct horsehide and goatskin options available. The leather will develop a rich patina over time, reflecting the authentic ageing process of original WWII flight jackets.
Every signature Bronco detail has been carefully reproduced, including the square shoulder construction, slim sleeves, compact pockets with bevelled lower corners, accurate pocket flaps, epaulettes and period-correct seam construction. Wartime-style hardware, including appropriate zipper configuration, small ligne 20 ring type snaps, throat hooks attached with double barrel eyelets and spec. label with golden text completes the authentic appearance.
Original Bronco 29191 jackets featured leather hanger straps secured either with bar-tack stitching or the distinctive X-box stitch reinforcement. Our reproduction is offered exclusively with the X-box stitched version.
Finished with a military-weight cotton lining and dense wool rib-knit cuffs and waistband, the Bronco 29191 A-2 captures the character, proportions and craftsmanship of one of the finest USAAF flight jacket designs ever produced.
