Arco 21996
Aero Leather Clothing Co., Inc. - Contract/Order No: W535 ac-21996
Arco 21996
£1,055.00
Based on an original U.S. Army Air Forces A-2 flight jacket produced by Aero Leather Clothing Co. under Contract W535 ac-21996, dated 14 October 1941, this model represents the fifth out of Aero’s seven contracts with a production run totaling 25,000 jackets.
Original examples from this contract were produced in russet or seal brown horsehide, with some production also utilizing cowhide. The pattern features an easy-fitting torso and shoulders, designed to allow freedom of movement in the cockpit while accommodating layered clothing. The interiors were finished with a mustard-colored cotton lining, sewn with brown or olive drab green thread and fitted with mid-brown or distinctive Aero red wool knits.
Authentic period details include large ring collar snaps and a bell-shaped Talon zipper, hallmark features of early-1940s Aero production.
Our reproduction includes all the original details and we can offer any of the above color variations.
Jacket on display made with Liberty Horsehide Russet, mustard brown lining, olive drab thread and red rust knits.
